I've never matched a couple together, but I can only imagine the achievement you must feel when you are the one to introduce your friend to her future husband, and that's just what Sawncy and Luke did for Blake and Jenn. Blake was living in Texas and Jennifer was living in Colorado. Both actually happened to attend school in Texas, but had never met before. When Blake came home to Colorado to visit his family for Christmas break, he got introduced to Jenn.
At the time, both Jenn and Blake had been looking for a partner who would help strengthen their faith first and foremost, but would also challenge and enjoy life's adventures with each other. Blake knew he had found a good thing when he found Jenn, so he seized his opportunity and asked Jenn out to their first of many dates--a country music concert.
So, funny enough, I actually went to middle school with Blake. I also had previously photographed TWO of Blake and Jenn's friends weddings, so in December is 2018, while I was photographing Mitch and Holly's wedding, Jenn was performing her bridesmaid duties, so I asked Blake how serious he and Jenn were. Blake whipped out his phone and showed me a photo of the ring he had bought for Jenn and mentioned he was going to propose and a couple short weeks!
So fast forward to the proposal!!
Jennifer's family had just moved to Mississippi and her family always spends Christmas in their hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Blake's family lives in the mountains in Evergreen, Colorado. Jennifer was about to leave the next day to visit her family for Christmas. Blake had invited her over to exchange gifts at his parents house before she left. When she got there, Blake was waiting at the top of the hill for her. The pathway down through the mountain to the house was lit up with lights and candles.
On the way down, Blake started telling Jennifer all of the things that he loved about her and how thankful he was that God had provided the girl he had prayed for. When they got to the fire pit right outside of the house, in the mountains, Blake got down on one knee and proposed. Jennifer said yes! After a moment to themselves to reflect, Blake brought Jennifer into his parents house, and to her surprise, Blake's immediate family AND her immediate family were all there from out of town. Blake's mom had cooked dinner and Jennifer's mom had brought desserts. Both immediate families sat around the square table for a few hours just reflecting and talking with one another.
Since their families are both so close, it was so special to have both of their families there to celebrate the moment with them and it's something Blake and Jenn will never forget.
