5 Things You Can Do to Drive Traffic To your website

In this day in age when micro blogging and big social media platforms are a what every company uses to get business, it's so easy to focus on what we're posting on Instagram, rather than focusing on driving our clients, and potential clients to our website. Your social media sites should be nothing but a handshake to your business; and your website, over all, should be the final destination to turn your potential clients into paying clients.

Woah...that was a mouthful!

"What do you mean Morgan? I have 10,000 followers on Instagram and everyone loves what I post!"

In this blog post, I'm going to teach you 5 simple steps to drive traffic to your website. Unlike social media, no one will ever be able to see how many website hits you receive each day, or how many times your blog posts have been seen. No one will ever be able to see how many people have subscribed to your email list, but I'm about to let you in on a little secret: the number of followers/likes/comments you have that are visible (i.e. Instagram, Facebook) doesn't matter unless you're using those numbers to convert! So let's teach you how to drive traffic to your website and turn those followers into paying clients!

1. Blog, blog, blog!

I'm gonna let you in on a little secret....this is coming from someone who has been blogging ever since blogging started getting popular in 2008: blogging is SO not dead! I've seen the changes that have come along with blogging, and sure, micro-blogging (i.e. Instagram posts) has definitely become more popular, but if you put your attention toward quality content that will solve your audience's problems, your blog will be a great landing page that over time will teach your audience to trust that you're a pro at what you do and you definitely know what you're talking about!

2. Use the link in your bio as a call to action

This is one small, really simple change I started making only a few months ago: I started stating in my Instagram bio WHY followers should click that link. Whether it's a new Friday 5 post, a wedding I just blogged, or a free download, you can bet my bio says it. Now, the link in my bio is no longer a link that just leads to my website, it's a link that has a purpose that is more likely to make any person who happens to land on my profile, click.

3. Invite people to subscribe to your email lists

I wish I had worked on building my email list from the very beginning of starting my business. Why? Because the people who subscribe to your email list are the ones that are the most serious about consuming what you have to offer. Not only that, but social media is changing, we can't control the algorithms, but your email list is content you can always control, and always be sure your subscribers will see. And, sending out monthly updates will drive your most loyal followers back to your website!

4. Use your email lists by sending emails out monthly to subscribers

Going back on my last point: it's not enough to just have subscribers, you have to send them things they might be anxious to see! In your email list, you can include links to recent blog posts, upcoming events, free guides that bring your most loyal followers back to your website, therefore, driving more traffic to your website.

5. Create free guides for your followers or host giveaways

Giving away free content is a great and easy way to get people to your website; and subscribe to your email list. Not only that, but in doing so, you are telling your audience that you care about serving them and helping them with whatever questions/problems they might have...i.e. building trust!

Driving traffic to your website is one of the simplest things you can do to grow your business. While focusing on building social media is a great thing to do, it's also important to make sure you're maximizing what you know by focusing on your website as well...a platform where no one will see the numbers, yet can make so much more impact in your business. I hope this blog encourages you to think of new ways to help your audience, while also growing your business!
